The Real Greek Bournemouth Taratsa Opening
I had the pleasure of being invited to the new The Real Greek restaurant at the new BH2 complex in Bournemouth for the opening of their ‘Taratsa‘ (outside roof terrace). Having been to Greece twice in the last year with fond memories of the amazing food we had there, this was one event not to be missed…

A better day could not have been chosen; it was stunningly sunny and hot (for May in England, at least!). Once arriving, we were greeted warmly by the staff and chose a sunny table with a view of Bournemouth gardens. It felt like being on holiday!

There was a table filled with delicious cold Greek appetisers including feta cheese, tzatziki, flatbread, olives and various Greek-inspired dips, along with crudités to dip them in.

Chicken and chorizo skewers were cooking away on the outside BBQ…

Meanwhile, staff came round with various dishes to try including this delicious falafel with tahini dip…

The chicken and chorizo skewers when they were done cooking…

Halloumi skewers to die for…

Eventually the sun started to go down but the terrace stayed very pleasant; wine was flowing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

It’s a lovely new space to hang out in the centre of Bournemouth, and should be a great hit in the summer months to come.

Meanwhile, the food kept coming… lamb kofte, tzatziki, and cheese parcels…

…and much flatbread was eaten with everything; it was so delicious.

Last but not least, prawn skewers and some octopus to try!

Of course I had room for dessert: Greek yogurt with honey and fresh figs.

Thank you to the staff at The Real Greek Bournemouth for being so attentive and welcoming; you all did an amazing job, and we had a fabulous evening. It’s nice to have something a little bit different in amongst all the usual burger, pizza, and steak restaurants, and I hope it will be a success.
Over the summer months, the restaurant will be offering ‘The Real Greek Picnic Bag‘ containing a pre-packed selection of crudités, Greek dips, and either beer or prosecco as a take-away for visitors to the beach or parks around Bournemouth.
